Konye, a dedicated Taiao Ranger, lives by the whakataukī "Kaua e mate wheke, mate ururoa," embodying resilience and tenacity in the fight for the taiao, much like the enduring spirit of the shark. His aspirations for the future of our taiao are rooted in returning to the ways of our tūpuna, gathering kai sustainably, free from rubbish, with clean, drinkable, and swimmable awa and moana teeming with kaimoana. What Konye loves most about his mahi is working directly in the taiao, cleaning and beautifying it, and giving back to the land that sustains us.
